Key Issue #1: Too much focus on cardio

Like a good nutrition plan, your workouts also need to be balanced to maximize your results.   Cardio is beneficial for general conditioning.  Getting your cardio in the form of sports or dancing can make exercise fun but strength training has even more benefits - such as:

  • Increased strength.  
  • Increased bone density and stronger connective tissues
  • Targeting specific areas of your body

Key Issue #2: Short-term programming and focus on intensity

Most programs are designed to be short and focus on high intensity.  There are 2 reasons for this:

  1. The human body is highly adaptive.  If a program isn't well designed then you'll start seeing your results stall before the end of the program.  That's why most programs want to keep you in that 4-6 week sweet spot, focused on high intensity and a hardcore diet - that way you see results and leave positive reviews so they can make more money.  Not to mention that you need to buy another program every 4 weeks.
